About1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000 Books Before Kindergarten is an ongoing early literacy program to support you and your child's reading journey.

One thousand books? That seems like way too many, right? Not at all. You can do it! It doesn't matter if your child is a newborn or in Pre-K - there's no better time to start than now to read 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. For every 100 books you read, come to the library to claim your prizes.

Reading helps build social and emotional skills, sparks creativity and imagination, promotes bonding, and helps kids do well overall in school. Take that motivation, open a book, and get started. And remember, 1000 is just a number. The goal is to work reading aloud into your regular routine and let the magic of stories do the rest.

This program is intended for children who have not entered kindergarten yet.
